'Fantastic Five' Series: Top 5 Lipsticks for Fall

Hello, and good day, everyone!  Well, my lovelies, I hope you all are having a beautiful week so far! I am back with the third  post in my Fantastic Top Five Series. This time, however, I cheated a bit, and just had to squeeze a sixth one in there. Now, just a preface: I'm honestly not very bold when it comes to what I rock on my lips on a day-to-day basis (yeah, not even in the fall months - you don't have to tell me, I already know: laaame) and since I'm always working, or running around apartment-hunting or other mundane errands, my colour palette, as of late, has been nothing but basic, honey. No vampy traffic-stopping colors like oxbloods, glossy deep wines, burgundy or bright berries, or those deep bruise-y purples, have been on this lady's agenda (or lips) lately.

I think that if I had a nightlife/vixen side to my personality, I would call these my 'Lazy Roll Outta Bed Fall Lip Picks,' and would make another version of more amped-up, bolder picks for this post, but, eh, I really don't, as the vixen in me has been dormant. Ok, it was never really there in the first place. 😄 Okaaaaayy, let's keep moving right along, shall we?
L-R: Maybelline Color Whisper in 'Berry Ready' | L'Oreal Colour Caresse Lipstick in 'Rose Taffeta' | Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in 'Touch of Spice' | Clinique Butter Shine Lipstick in 'Berry Blush' | MAC Viva Glam V Lipstick | Too Faced La Crème Lipstick in 'Pink Chocolate'

Too Faced La Crème Lipstick in 'Pink Chocolate,' $22, sephora.com
This is a gorgeous deeper-toned pinky-brown cream shade, with which I detect the slightest-of-slight mauve undertones. I broke this out a couple months ago, and enjoy wearing it both ways: by itself and with lip liner. In the pic above and in other times I've worn it, I like to pair it with this lip liner combo: the lightest, almost feather-like application of NYX's uber-brown lip liner, which is their Slim Lip Pencil in 'Cola,' and blended it into Rimmel's Eastend Snob liner, with 'Pink Chocolate' on top.

Here is a pic of 'Pink Chocolate' by itself, in all its glory, no lip liner.
Maybelline Color Whisper in 'Berry Ready,' $5.99, drugstores
This is a stunning cream berry red shade with a highly luminous finish. 'Berry Ready' is my first foray into the Color Whisper collection. I paired this with Jordana's Plush Plum lip liner. The formula on this is very buttery, but it's also quite 'slippy-slidey' on the lips, and is one that's notorious to easily transfer. So, for me, a lip liner underneath is a must, if I want to wear this out.

L'Oreal Colour Caresse Lipstick in 'Rose Taffeta,' $7.99, drugstores
Oh, how I adore this lipstick. This is definitely one of my most used in my collection, no matter the time of year. This is a rosy pink that leans on the neutral side, with the tiniest hint of purple. 'Rose Taffeta' (and other L'Oreal Caresse Lipsticks overall) have more of a sheer finish, with a thinner consistency. This particular shade is slightly more buildable in coverage compared to the others I've tried from this line. It has a luminous finish as well, and without a lip liner, can tend to slide around and wear off more quickly than I would like it to. In the picture, it is paired with Rimmel's Eastend Snob Lip Liner.

Clinique Butter Shine Lipstick in 'Berry Blush,' $16, sephora.com
Now, first thing's first with this color: I would definitely not call this a berry. It's just...not. It looks moreso like a berry shade in the tube than it does on the lips. It's more of a toffee-pink with cooler undertones (and a soft pearly finish) on my medium pigmented lips. This is the only thing I'm wearing on my lips in the picture; no lip liner. The shimmer in these lipsticks is so incredibly refined, it really does lend to a far more sophisticated look than, say, what a MAC Frost lipstick would give, and it just makes the lips look fuller and more polished. These just melt right onto the lips from the tube; by FAR the most moisturizing, richest formula ('rich,' not referring to pigmentation, just the overall feel of the product) of lipstick I've encountered in my journey with makeup thus far.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in 'Touch of Spice,' $5.99, drugstores
I haven't said this yet on my blog, so I'm going to say it now. If, by some unthinkable chance, you do not own this lipstick yet, girl, you need to get this in your possession! ASAP! Well, these recent Creamy Matte additions to the Color Sensational lineup are, in fact, permanent, so it's not like they're going anywhere anytime soon, so, ya got plenty of time, girl. 😃 So, I'll rephrase: At some point, I fully believe that trying out this lipstick (particularly in this shade, or any other shade; but this shade in particular is very universal, and I can see it flattering many skintones) would be completely worth your while. And can we just talk about how amazing the formula is?? Very creamy, and stays consistent with the nature of matte lipsticks, in that the lasting power is superb.
MAC Viva Glam V Lipstick, $16, maccosmetics.com
Lastly, the beautiful  MAC Viva Glam V, my favorite of the lustre finishes that MAC has to offer. It's a sheer neutral pink with tons of gold sparkle that, thankfully, doesn't look like a chunky mess in direct sunlight. I paired this with Peekaboo Neutral Slim Lip Pencil from NYX in the pic above. I have to wear this with lip liner to bring out its true beauty. It is a noticeably thinner formula compared to other MAC Lustres I've tried, but it also provides a more forgiving finish, when I'm having a 'flaky lips' kind of day, and the shimmer doesn't accentuate every little line in my lips like other Lustres can tend to do. Not to mention, it's also the least drying of any of the Lustres I've tried.

Do tell: What are YOUR favorite fall lippies? Let me know! Also, if there are any types of posts you would like to see from this blog, drop me a line with that as well! Have a great day, everyone! God bless.
