Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms: Review and Swatches!

Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms Review and Swatches

Hello my fellow makeup fanatics! I have a review for you lovelies today! Yes, they're the bold, they're the dangerous (and they're definitely not for the faint of heart) Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms; and they are the products being put under a microscope today (cues in evil cartoon movie villain laughter).

I've had these puppies a while, and I just want to preface by saying that I wasn't a huge fan of the original Color Burst Balm Stain crayons. It was mainly because the formula of those made my lips peel and dehydrated them to the extremes. Not to mention, I wasn't a big fan of the color range. The Matte Balms are a much different story - first off, they're a completely different format despite the nearly identical packaging. The texture and feel of these is very smooth, and the color payoff is outstanding: very opaque and beautiful vibrant shades in this line. Most matte lip products tend to be opaque anyway, however these have a bit more slip to them and are more movable on the lips than, say, a matte lip product in a traditional lipstick bullet form.

These are more of a satin-matte full coverage finish, and they do not appear to be a flat, dry, powdery-looking matte whatsoever. 😃
And now, on to the hand swatches!

Evening Makeup: Purple Smoke & Nude Lips (A Pictorial)

Hello there! How are you all doing today?  So, this is my very first attempt at an eyeshadow pictorial. All eyeshadows used for this look are from ELF's new and limited edition palette: their Essential 18-Piece Eyeshadow Palette. I used this palette in my last FOTD so that you and I could see exactly what the warmer neutral shades in this palette have to offer. For this pictorial, I decided to play with some of the cooler more colorful shades for a glammed-up look that's perfectly appropriate for those evenings out. (And, y'know, also for those evenings at home, dog-sitting and eating mint moose tracks ice cream? Yes? Maybe? Ok 😊).

This palette, being mostly neutral, also has a gorgeous matte mauve-lavender and deep matte navy shade, which I really wanted to incorporate into this look (which, yes ma'am, I did). The pigmentation on these mattes ended up surprising me, in a good way. For this post, I will be focusing mainly on the color cosmetics, and not the base skin products.

FOTD: Everyday Glam - Easing Into Fall!

Hello there!  Well, I keep meaning to make these FOTDs more like pictorials, and not....you know, FOTDs. But it never seems to hit me until after my face is finished, the plethora of pics are taken, and I am seconds away from uploading them. I just feel like pictorials are much easier to follow, since I see myself as a visual learner, and I know that myself and so many others just enjoy them more, rather than having no step-by-step visuals, and just an instructional product breakdown. Anyhoo, you will hopefully start seeing more pictorials, and less FOTDs, on this blog in the future. 😄
Dis my natural hair, yo. 😁
