My First Foray into Carrier Oils feat. Aura Cacia Nurturing Sweet Almond Skincare Oil + Hello Again!

To prevent at all costs a dismal rambly post explaining my 6 month long hiatus from my blog, I'll just say, 'tis great to be back! Even if I'll just be posting on this blog in the summer months, I have had time to really think about what direction I want my online writing platform to go (and I'm not talking about this blog individually). And believe me when I say that, in interim, as far as the beauty stuff is concerned, with research, I have really had the chance to reflect on how to implement improvements into my skincare game. Huzzah!

Aura Cacia is a brand I just recently discovered whilst perusing the aisles at Whole Foods a couple months back. I was in a somewhat desperate search for something that could act as a moisturizer for the face that didn't veer off into 'oily' or 'heavy' as being the main points of discussion in the reviews I read, and upon reading an admittedly large amount of reviews (as I was always skeptical of a carrier oil alone doing an adequate service in regards to the inflammation, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and other skin problems I was having, all the while being lightweight and comfortable), in the end, something that seemed to tick the boxes for me was the Nurturing Sweet Almond Skin Care Oil.

I have not tried mixing this with other oils or creams in an attempt to make my own natural body products (although I want to do so in the future!). I simply use this on the face and body right after I shower, and I only use it solely as a nighttime oil.

Application

I lightly buff a dime-sized drop onto clean skin and leave on overnight. I can wake up the next morning with my skin appearing quite smooth and feeling well-nourished. That being said, with so many other nighttime moisturizers I've tried, they usually slide right off my face and I roll out of bed the next morning feeling as though I had put nothing on my skin the night before. So glad that's definitely not the case with this.

Consistency, Scent, & Other Uses

This is definitely not a dry oil. The consistency isn't watery, but it's thin, yet rich enough to provide a nice glide, and absorbs fairly quickly and feels lightweight on the skin. It doesn't look or feel heavy or greasy. This has become an unsung hero for my dry skin in the 2 months I've been using it, as it is very nourishing, soothing, and the restorative properties are the best bit of insane, in my humble opinion.
When I'm in a bind and forget to bring my coconut oil on my day trips (it's my makeup remover of choice), this works just as spectacularly well at removing heavy makeup, without leaving a film or residue post-rinse. The smell is almost non-existent, but I detect the slightest hint of a natural almond scent that is only noticed as the product is applied near my nose, and that's only for a second or two.

This product is labeled as 100% botanical, however if you are buying it on any online store, some descriptions may label this as an organic product, which it is not. A single qualm I have with this product overall, is the packaging. If you're not careful, the rubberized opening can dispense entirely way too much product, so if you're thinking of using this primarily for your face, just keep in mind that this dispenses like a body product, not a face product.

A better look at the consistency and finish that this oil gives after absorption:

Overall, I am definitely most pleased with how this basic carrier oil has performed. The Vitamin E benefits certainly don't hurt, either. 😉
